Xenon lamp weather resistance test
The main factors causing material aging are sunlight and moisture. Sunlight is a major factor contributing to the degradation of many materials. The types of degradation, such as physical property decline, powdering, cracking, peeling, fading and color change, are related to the material's sensitivity and spectrum. Each material responds differently to the spectrum. For durable materials, such as most coatings and plastics, short-wave ultraviolet rays are the main cause of polymer aging. However, for materials that are not particularly durable, long-wave ultraviolet rays and even short-wave visible light are the main factors causing their damage.
The xenon lamp climate test chamber can simulate the hazards caused by sunlight, rain and dew. It uses xenon lamps to simulate the effect of sunlight exposure and condensation moisture to simulate rain and dew. The tested materials are placed in a cycle program of alternating light and moisture at a certain temperature for testing. The hazards that occur outdoors for months or even years can be reproduced in just a few days or weeks. Artificial accelerated aging test data can help select new materials, modify existing materials, and evaluate how changes in the formula affect the durability of the product.
